As the Lead Network Security Engineer, you will be responsible for spearheading our network security initiatives, ensuring robust, secure, and efficient network operations. This role demands a high level of expertise in various networking technologies and security practices, along with the ability to lead and implement critical network projects. You will plan and design secure computer networks, including local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), the Internet, intranets, and other data communications systems. Additionally, you will be responsible for defining the overall structure of a network program and understanding all aspects of each solution from both a business and technical point of view.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Includes the following:
- Analyze business requirements to develop technical network solutions and their frameworks.
- Develop network technology roadmaps & advise clients on managing future IT needs.
- Create and verify technical content in specialized areas, encompassing best practices, architectural designs, lab testing, and document publication, including guides for design, deployment, and integration of products and solutions.
- Determine which IT products to use based on cost benefit analysis and research.
- Manage technology vendors, assessing development and test strategies.
- Coordinate with various teams to ensure seamless integration of new technologies.
- Educate clients and internal stakeholders about potential risks to secure support for IT strategies.
- Develop reliable effort and cost estimates for solutions.
- Interface directly with external clients to resolve complex network issues when incidents are escalated.
- Develop and implement network security policies and procedures.
- Design and integrate VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) and other telecommunications systems.
- Evaluate emerging network technologies to maximize performance, security & efficiency.
- Test and evaluate network performance, and optimize/redesigning the network, where applicable May perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Skills/Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in engineering, computer science, or related field
- 8+ years’ experience working with network design, engineering and support.
- Proficient in SDWAN implementations and management
- Experience with Cloud Networking solutions
- In-depth understanding of Zero Trust security models
- Expertise in VPN and Firewall technologies
- Professional level network certs, such as CISCO or Juniper (i.e., Cisco CCNP R&S)
- 3+ years of Data Center Network Management or Support (Cisco/Nexus)
- 3+ years of Firewall Deployment, Management and/or Support (Cisco, Fortinet, or Palo Alto)
- Proficient in a wide range of Layer 2/3 networking (OSPF, BGP, VPC, Load balancing) and security (VPN, ACLs, FW Clustering, IPS) technologies
- Proven track record as technical lead on projects
- Experience working with networks supporting VoIP or VDI environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in information Systems or related field
- Experience with SolarWinds or similar management platforms preferred.
- CCIE or CCAr: Cisco Certified Architect
- Experience with DC-networking overlay protocols
- Experience with Python and network automation
- Experience with VMWare and cloud environments (Azure/AWS)
- Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE)
- ITIL v3 or v4 certification

- Adjusting network sizes to meet volume or capacity demands.
- Communicating with customers and sales to determine customer needs.
- Communicating with system users to ensure accounts are set up properly or to diagnose and solve operational problems. • Coordinating the installation of new equipment
- Coordinating network operations, maintenance, repairs, or upgrades
- Developing technical documentation for solution procedures and/or designs
- Leading solution design discussions
- Deployment Planning & Strategy
- Deploying and testing systems-related solutions
- Working with technical writers to draft case studies and white papers.
- Leveraging monitoring applications to track and manage infrastructure performance and capacity.
- Researching industry trends and new technology infrastructures
- Coordinating with technology providers/vendors for procurement, support and evaluation
- Participating in ARB meetings in which new products and solutions are evaluated at an enterprise level.
Limited travel may be required.
